What is a "Disk Quota"?By default, every user has a quota, or limit, on the amount of disk space their account can use. This quota is for your home directory files and mail. It is the "real" amount of space that the system has allotted for you. When you exceed your quota, you will be unable to write any more data to the disk until you remove files and bring the space usage back under the quota limit. Default Quotas
Once you have exceeded your quota you will not be able to log in or access your email. If this happens you will need to visit our Help Desk in Hill Hall (Room 109), email help at: help@newark.rutgers.edu, or call the Help Desk at (973) 353 - 5083. Consultants on duty can show you how to reduce the amount of disk space you are using in your account. Checking your online Quota You can use our Campus Email Tools to check your quota, or just use the links here: Andromeda Quota Check Spam If you have turned on Spam Mail filtering, you should check the contents of your Spam Mailbox regularly. If you do NOT check this folder regularly, you may fill your disk quota, preventing new mail from being received. |
